Sir:

 

We have been acoustic witnesses of your latest talks. With deep sadness we have found that our request to you, that on the days devoted to talking about our civilization you should refrain from mentioning other respectable experiences you have had, has not been fully heeded.

 

We know that terrestrial human beings are fickle, and that in your actions there is of course neither bad faith nor a wish to evade old promises you made, but rather forgetfulness and glimmers of spiritual instability brought about by your immense love for those experiences, and a mistrust, understandable in a mental structure such as yours, towards a civilization as rational as ours.

 

We do not reproach You for it, Sesma, for despite everything your very good will towards us remains intact. We respect, of course, your points of view regarding the impossibility of the Terrestrial Social Network ever adopting the UMMO social model. A criterion we share only in part.

 

The suspension of the mailings to you has been prompted by two reasons: In the first place, as long as you break the commitment made with us to confine yourself in your meetings to the debate about UMMO, we cannot go on sending you those reports. It is a defensive measure, not revenge, since you are free to direct your meetings as you see fit. And certainly do not interpret it as meaning that we have been offended by your disagreements. You may resume your contacts with us whenever you wish; we only beg you to apportion your time discriminatingly. It would be enough for you, at the end of the meeting devoted to UMMO, to state clearly that a different subject is going to be started. If you do not accept even this, it will be clear that the break with us is not caused by us, but that you do not wish to have dealings with us...

 

In the second place, certain events have occurred these days which are not relevant here and which have obliged us to break off contacts temporarily with ALL our correspondents in EUROPE and AUSTRALIA.

 

In any case your attitude towards us is incomprehensible: One may freely disagree with the sociological, scientific or Philosophical assumptions of some friends, of some good friends, and nevertheless go on cultivating the spiritual bonds that unite one with them, above all when what those friends ask in return is not a capitulation nor a break with one's own ideas, but a mere concession of a passive character, a concession that has been reasoned out to you and that involves no mystery nor any real contempt for your other respectable friends.

 

But anyway: Man must be free in his actions and we do not wish to coerce you. Whatever your decision, know that these friends of yours from another distant Star will feel the same respect and affection for you.

 

Do not consider it flattery when we tell you that you are one of the few OEMII we have found on this planet who loves genuine spiritual values, one of the few OEMII who fervently admire the beings who people the cosmos.

 

And we understand you for that. In reality you would wish the image of UMMO we have described to you to be purer, more mysterious, less rationalised, less logical. but it is not our fault that we are like that. On the other hand, you should discard that false prejudice which you seem to have formed, imagining us as a people lacking freedoms, tightly channelled by iron logical rules, gripped by the postulates of a cold technology and devoid of the chromatic richness that the Earth presents. The latter is true with regard to the Earth, but not as much as you imagine.

 

In any case we are sorry if we have perhaps hurt you with our ideas, which may be in frank contradiction with yours. There was no wish to humiliate you.

 

Brother Sesma, may we call you so? farewell for ever. If you wish contacts to be broken off, please say so at the meeting. We also understand that this experience may weary you. If not, as soon as we have verified that for two or three meetings you devote the time exclusively to comments related to UMMO, we will continue our series of reports. And do not be afraid to disagree with our points of view. We like your spirit of independence. We are not in the least annoyed.
